Changing the lives of children with autism

About us

My Son MichaelMy name is Vadim Kotin, and my son Misha was diagnosed with autism in 2009 at age four. Like other parents, I had so many questions: What caused this; can autism be cured; when will my son be able to say “dad?” The good news is that there are several autism treatments that can help. But as you may know, we need more research and a provincial plan to cover the costs of these treatments.

Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) is the most promising treatment for autism to date, but it is not universally accessible. The B.C. government caps funding for children who reach school age and this is not enough. One year of treatment alone costs around C$25,000-$40,000. Studies show that long-term ABA treatment can drastically improve the outlook for autistic children.

That’s where Above Autism comes in...

The goal of Above Autism is to raise money for and draw awareness to autism in B.C.. You’ll find many resources here, including an “in the press” section with the latest news and resources on autism in Canada. I hope this website will be helpful to everyone affected by autism or autism spectrum disorder.
